The network infrastructure and information technology industry is a huge one. According to Global Market Insights, the telecom network infrastructure size in the US is 80 billion in 2019, and a prospecting growth between the years of 2020-2026 is 4%. Select US, states that the Information Technology industry accounts for more than 10% of the US economy and provides about 11.8 million jobs as well. In 2018 alone, more than 40,000 tech startups were founded. So what’s it like slowly integrating into such a big and competitive industry?

So we asked our CEO, Ivan Vargas, this question as well as questions of the experiences he and his team have had from the beginning of Superior Cabling Solutions.

What was it like starting a company from scratch?

The company, at first, was a far-fetched dream and idea I had for many years, and in 2017 I realize I could create my own business. I knew that it would be difficult to compete with big businesses, but we made it happen. We stared with only three employees and little to no knowledge in business administration, but with my networking experience and connections, we had from past employments we created the foundation for us to startup and grow.

What was the biggest challenge when it comes to managing a business?

Being in such a big industry, I think that the most challenging thing is competing with other companies. These other big companies have had a longer time in the business and with all this time they have greater wealth so they can charge much less, compared to what a small company, like Superior Cabling Solutions, can charge for the same service.

What the pros and cons of being a boss in your opinion?

The pros of being a boss are knowing that you’ve formed a great team with the same mindset of growing and building a great company. Through the past years, I have been able to put together a team of technicians, project managers, and office administrators who care for the companies well being. This team isn’t working for a weekly paycheck, but rather to grow the company’s name. The cons are making tough decisions. Most of the time these tough decisions are popular, but necessary and carrying out these decisions are not always very easy.

Why did you choose the networking infrastructure industry?

I chose the networking and technology business for two main reasons. First, ever since I was young, I worked with electricity and technology; whether it be installing lamps and lighting fixers, to working on the very utility poles on the side of the street. Being exposed to this type of work set a base for my future. Second, whenever I was offered my first job in network infrastructure, it was this opportunity that sparked my passion for this job. Now I know this industry is a comparative one, but what better career to have than one that you are passionate about.

Where did the name Superior Cabling Solutions come from?

The name came from a random spark of ideas an employee and I were having over breakfast. When driving, we noticed a sign in a corner that said “superior”, and after a brainstorming session, we created the name that stood for how we planned to offer our services. Our vision of providing a cabling solution with superior quality for all our clients.

What is Superior Cabling Solution’s mission or vision?

We complete the job with quality, passion, and responsibility so that our clients feel that the job we do for them not only fulfills but exceed their needs, and we hope they feel confident in our services.

This pandemic has been one of the most difficult times for the company, how have you and your team made it through?

One day at a time, honestly. There were some moments that were not good, while others were very optimistic. With our team of not only administrators but employees who put in the extra hours and extreme persuasions, the company stood together. The unity of our company is what kept us going, and it is what will keep us afloat during tough times.

What do hope to accomplish in the next five years?

In the next five years, I hope that our company grows to where we have jobs all across the east coast. I hope that we can prepare the current employees with the education and knowledge of administration, technician updates, and job solutions to offer the best cabling solutions. Lastly, I hope to become part of the growth here in Charlotte NC, so that companies automatically can count on Superior Cabling Solutions for the cabling, networking infrastructure, and IT needs.

Not only has Superior Cabling Solution had to face constant competition from other businesses, but our company has also had to confront a pandemic. Our team has been able to pull through and will continue to pull through any difficult time in our path. We are here to stay and to grow.
